Q4 2016 recap, 2017 is almost here!

by Chelsea Myers on December 31, 2016

  • Be offered 3 online classes in the spring – Just noticed that both my classes are full and sent an e-mail to ask for a third.  Other than one person who had a financial aid issue and took it out on me, my evaluations have been really good these last two semesters so hopefully I’m getting some enrollment via word of mouth.
  • Complete my first consulting project – Yes!  This all happened very quickly a couple weeks ago, but I finished the project and think everyone was happy with the final product.
  • Name and set up my LLC for consulting work – But this is not necessary for the time being.  Looks like the consulting project was a one-off rather than something recurring.
  • Finish my professional development classes.  – Done!  YAY!
  • Yard landscaping – Actually just did a bunch today that I think looks rather nice.
  • Run a 1:45 1/2 marathon at either of my fall races –  Nope, as discussed earlier.  Maybe this spring.  I think it will happen but the stars will have to align.
  • Novel – I really haven’t worked on this at all.  Again, hopefully once the kids are back in school.
  • Scott to the Magic Kingdom for his birthday –  Yes and it was so much fun.  I’ll post pictures sometime soon.
  • Both boys’ birthday parties. – I’m very happy with the way both went.

A loose outline for 2017 – more specific at the beginning than the end.

  • Run a sub-4 marathon at Celebration.  I feeling very very very confident about this right now.  I’ve done great, strong 18 and 20 milers and today I ran 14mi with 3x3mi at marathon pace and it felt easy.  I’ve got one 20-miler left and it’s all downhill from there.  Based on doing a 1/2 marathon at race pace in 1:55 and my other PRs for this year (22:40 for 5k, 46:39 for 10k, 1:49 for 1/2 marathon) sub-4 should be on the easy side of do-able.  BUT nothing is ever for sure in a marathon.  The weather could be awful…  I could get sick or hurt…  I’m thinking this is my race, though.
  • Write another 1/4 of my novel.  That’s about 23k words.
  • Landscaping in front and back yards while the weather is nice.
  • Out of town trip with Daniel.

  • Write final 1/4 of my novel
  • 1:45 1/2 marathon (maybe I’ll get a boost from the marathon)
  • PR in 5k and 10k
  • Family photo book for 2016

  • Revise novel
  • Complete professional development
  • Research publication options (ie learn about finding agents, pitches, self-publishing, etc.)

  • Finish revising novel
  • Have it read by some kind of professional
  • 1:45 1/2 marathon (you know, just in case)
