Currently – September

  • The boys are both in school.  Scott goes 9 – 2 M – R and Will goes M and T from 9 – 12.  Will is having some trouble with the transition but Scott loves it.  In fact, depending on a few things, we might add Friday and have him go every day.  Last Friday he was disappointed that Daddy was going to work but he wasn’t.  Will on the other hand told me yesterday, “Mommy, I stand at the door and cry for you.”  Way to twist the knife, kid.  Actually, despite the tears when I leave (and about half the kids cry when their parents leave, he’s usually having fun when I pick him up.
  • Some pictures from the first day:

  • Just finished –  (Listening to) Voyager by Diana Gabaldon, (Reading) Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier
  • Currently – (Listening to) The Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon, (Reading) The Nine Tailors by Dorthy L. Sayers, Writing Fiction for Dummies by Randy Ingermanson and Peter Economy,  Techniques of the Selling Writer by Dwight Swain
  • Coming Up – Still Life by Louise Penny

  • The boys have a newfound love of Wallace and Grommit

Working on:

  • My Valencia statistics classes started on Monday the 29th and I’ll do almost all of my professional development hours this month (hopefully).
  • I’m also expecting some consulting work for a brand new project.
  • My novel.  I’ve gotten very into this idea of the Snowflake Method of writing a novel, and I’m actually making progress.  It’s also the reason I’ve been reading more about writing.

  • We’ve had a few relatively cooler days, and it’s made me appreciate how much more pleasant it is to run when it’s 75 rather than 85 degrees out.  Just have to hope that I get some cool weather for my fall 1/2 marathons.

This time last year:

  • I was teaching in person.
  • Will had his first donut bite.
  • Scott was majorly into the Cars movie.

Two years ago:

  • We took our first trip to the science center with little Scott.

Three years ago:

  • We went to the art museum and Sprecher root beer brewery in Milwaukee.

Four years ago:

  • We said goodbye to our Eagle Heights apartment, the place both of us lived the longest since we were in high school (early high school for Daniel).

Five (!) Years Ago:

  • I was an honorary Northerner.  This is how they get a sun tan:
