Currently – July

And hot hot hot hot hot.  A few pictures from the Independence Day, also known at our house was Watermelon Day, festivities.

I ran a 5k earlier in the morning and we took the boys back out to play on the inflatable slides (S loved it, W just wanted to jump on the bottom part which would have been okay except he was at constant risk of being trampled by big kids).  We saw a few classic cars and had to point out which one was ‘Mater, Lightning McQueen, Sally, etc. before we called it a day.  We didn’t try to watch the fireworks (though a neighbor gave us a good tip for next year), but heard them three nights in a row.

Noteworthy:

Daniel and I took a 5-day trip to New England during the middle of June.  We started in Burlington (and probably would have planned to stay there all 5 days had we known how much there was to see), drove to Maine, spent some time in Maine, and flew out of a tiny airport in southern New Hampshire.

At the B+J factory outside Burlington.  Sweet potato pie seemed destined for the flavor graveyard.

Reading:

Just finished- The Storied Life of A. J. Fickry, No One Knows, Everything I Never Told You, Devil in the White City, and Thunderstruck

Currently – Reading The Big Short by Michael Lewis and Listening to Dragonfly in Amber (it’s long!)

Coming up – Maybe some more Michael Lewis or Erik Larson.  I feel like I’m on a big of a nonfiction kick.

Watching:

Scott and Will are very into The Little Mermaid

Working on:

Keeping up with my summer class and doing a little writing for myself.  I’d also like to try to put together our family scrapbook from 2015 this month.

Running:

Is so so so hot, but going pretty well.  I’m enjoying doing my long run with a group and have gotten a lot of good advice about what marathon I might like to do this fall.  I’m thinking maybe Jacksonville in mid-December before the holidays.  That way I’d have a back-up in January (Celebration) and a double back up 1/2 marathon (OUC) if things don’t pan out.

Loving:

Mr. Ray, Mr. Ray!

This time last year:

Scott was transitioning to his big boy bed.  Will was… OMG.

Two years ago, we took Scott to a family wedding.  It was a pants-optional Tennessee family wedding 😉

Three years ago, Scott had his first swim in a kiddie pool.

Four years ago, it was way too hot in Wisconsin.
