Currently – January 2017

  • Christmas!!!!!!!  It as neat to have Christmas at home this year and make all the magic happen.  The boys were so excited to empty their stockings and see everything under the tree.  We went to Christmas Eve service with Grandma and Grandpa and then did Christmas morning at our house followed by church and then saw Grandma and Grandpa once again in the afternoon (more presents!).  The boys got scooters (a two-wheeler for Scott), space stations, trains, and books from family and lots of goodies (marshmallows, candy canes, glow sticks) from Santa.  Will ate about 10 candy canes and 2 cups of marshmallows for breakfast on Christmas morning.  We’ve also watched Finding Dory more days than not.  And still every night when I put Will to bed he says, “I hope Santa brings presents!”

  • We also had some nice day trips during the break.  We attempted a trip to Gatorland (which was closed because a water main had broken) and re-routed to the Sea Life Aquarium on I-Drive which was actually really nice.

  • We saw Uncle Jim for a few days while he was in town and took some family pictures.  We also went out to Ft. Christmas and Scott enjoyed seeing the old houses and fort.

  • That plus a trip to the Science Center and an afternoon in Mt. Dora rounded out the Christmas vacation.

  • Oh yeah, and cookies and gingerbread houses/piles.

  • Scott is now back in school and Will starts on Monday.  Scott has decided that he wants to go to school 5 days a week this spring, which makes me a little sad because it means we won’t be doing music together, but on the other hand, I’m glad he enjoys school so much.

  • Currently: (Reading) Homegoing and The Gene, (Listening to) A Gentleman in Moscow
  • My 2016 year-in-review is here

Working on:

  • Gearing up to start the spring semester (Jan 9)
  • Starting to work on my novel again after a long (too long…) break

  • Feeling really excited for the marathon at the end of January.  I had a great tempo run this morning – 5mi at 8:05/mi pace and will do my last 20 miler on Saturday (or Sunday if it’s thunderstorming)
  • I ran 116.75 miles in 2016

This time last year, we’d just come back from the Tennessee tour:

Two years ago we were enjoying our first warm Florida Christmas as residents.

Three years ago we escaped the cold north for Christmas in FL (little knowing we’d be back again next year – permanently and with a new member of the family).

Four years ago we had a tiny little Scott – who does look a bit like himself already, even that little.  I remember it well.

Five years ago we had our last pre-child Christmas trip.  We still want to take Scott and Will to Weeki Wachee for a day trip to see the mermaids.
