Born to run

Reviews of the last 4 books I read in 2013 plus my top 5 favorites of the year. Born to Run by Christopher McDougall – I rank this along with Once a Runner and What I Talk About When I Talk About Running as a runner “must read”.  It’s the story of the running-injury-prone author’s […]

Brits label states in the US: And Americans label countries in Europe: I think I could have done a pretty good job with Europe, but if I’d had to fill in a map of Britain, I’d have written Yorkshire, Cornwall, and Sherwood Forest (probably all in the wrong places).

It takes me back

While we’re on the subject of music, last week LV wrote a fun post about her “top 5” albums that conjure up memories of the past -songs that immediately remind you of a specific time in your life.  Here are my top 5 by age (with a few runners up).  All of these are ingrained in […]

4 songs I actually look forward to hearing every Christmas and one new favorite: 1. The one that reminds me of being a kid: 2. The one I love to sing at church: 3. The one no one else has heard of: 4. The guilty pleasure: 5. The new one: What’s your favorite song to […]

Madison is a political town.  Remember this?  Even today, battles over taxes and spending still rage.  However, there is one issue where both sides can come together to sing Kumbaya and write a giant check.  That thing is Christmas decorations.  The tackier and/or more elaborate the better. Friday night we went to see the Holiday Fantasy […]

Happy Birthday!

by Chelsea Myers on December 9, 2013

Scott turned 1 on Tuesday.  Sometimes it’s hard to believe my little snuggle bunny is becoming a toddler.  Other times – like when he’s mid-meltdown because he does not want to have his diaper changed – it’s not so hard. We had a little dinosaur-themed birthday party for him last Saturday afternoon where we enjoyed […]

Snip snip

by Chelsea Myers on December 5, 2013

Scott got his first haircut Monday evening.  Daniel, who also got a haircut, held him while I took pictures and grabbed a lock of hair.  The poor little guy has been sick (meaning he’s had to have his nose suctioned and drops put in his eyes) so having someone mess with his hair – something […]

Little Gym

by Chelsea Myers on December 3, 2013

Every spring as soon as it hits 70 degrees for the first time, I think, “Winter… that was just my imagination.  It never gets that cold and icy/snowy.”  Every fall I’m reminded that, oh wait, yes it is.  It gets dark at 4:30 and stays dark until 9.  I start eating 2 dinners and stop […]
